It might seem that anything that can grip this tightly must be uncomfortable.  But the surprising thing about the simple, ingenious mechanism underlying the Tug Ahoy is that when you first apply the device, there is no gripping pressure at all.  Then, amazingly, as you pull harder on the Tug Ahoy, it grips proportionately more tightly, so that, even with 16 pounds of load, it holds securely.
